Stotfold Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Marce Collington as First Team Manager. He replaces Mark Nervais who stood down from the position on Thursday. We would like to thank Mark for his efforts under difficult circumstances following Julian Robinson's surprise resignation in September.
Marce has been working with Mark since November and brought with him several talented players to help turn around the club's fortunes. The team picked up draws against top 6 sides Potton and Biggleswade over Christmas and in his first official game in charge on Saturday the club beat Harpenden 2-1.
Marce came through West Ham's famed academy and spent nine years with the Hammers before moving on to feature at clubs including Preston, Crawley Town, Southend, Thurrock and Dagenham & Redbridge.
He retired from playing in 2010 due to a few serious injuries and turned his attention to management and coaching and as a UEFA B licence holder Marce coached at various pro academies, managed Harlow Towns U23's as well as assisting Danny Chapman with their first team.
Marce has asked Gary Burkett to be Assistant Manager and Roger Butler will provide additional support. Darren Mitchell has stepped up to take the U25 Development Managers role. Darren, who is closing in on attaining his UEFA B licence has Brad Gillham as his assistant. They also won their first game in charge with a 3-1 defeat of Ampthill on Saturday.
